Leaders

Hi Families :)
Kindergarten students have been learning all about leaders including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and President Obama. We have been doing writings and different activities to learn about different leaders. We also are learning what it takes to be a leader.

We practiced learning our numbers 1-100 by making a 100's chart look like Abe Lincoln! Here is the results on the Smartboard and some from the students!

We also read books about Abe Lincoln. They did a writing about him and made a log cabin! The Kindergarten students learned about how he lived in a log cabin, was the 16th president, how he wore a black top hat, and so many more facts about Abe Lincoln. The next day we decided to make another log cabin using pretzels and marshmallows.

This week we will be focusing on how each student can be a leader and what makes each student special.
We are enjoying each and every student! Thank you for trusting us with your child(ren).

Shapes are EVERYWHERE!

At Dugan, we have been working on shapes! Thank you families for donating items around your house to make our robots and rocket ships. For the conclusion, we made rocket ships and robots. Here are some of the creations hanging in the wall outside the classroom.

Also, Mrs. Irvin's class had some fun looking at food seeing what kind of shapes where in food. We found a cookie to be a circle, Bugels to be a cone, marshmallows to be a cylinder, and so much more!  Using the shapes they found in their food, they made a graph. Here is an example:

Here is a game we have been playing in class to help learn shapes if you would like to play with your children.

Also, children might like finding shapes around the house. Happy shape hunting!!

We know as a parent sometimes we do not know how to do our child's homework. This will include tricks and tips for each family along with extra help if you believe your child needs it! We hope you enjoy using this. Thank you for being apart of your child's education!
